Nikhil photographed the top of his scalp every month after his procedure, so this journey shows months 1 to 6 from the same angle. It is the clearest way to see how growth arrives: slowly through the first three months, then visibly between months 4 and 6.
The Journey, Month by Month
Before Surgery
Advanced thinning across the front and top, with a receding hairline.
Hairline Design
The new hairline and the area to treat are drawn by the doctor before any grafts are taken.
The Shedding Phase
Short, sparse hair across the top. Transplanted hairs shed around now, while the follicles stay in place under the skin.
Still Thin
Little visible change yet. At two months most new growth is still below the surface.
First New Hairs
Fine new hairs start to appear, but coverage still looks patchy.
Growth Picks Up
More hairs are through and the thinning area is starting to fill.
Coverage Building
Density is now clearly visible from above.
Six Months
Much fuller coverage, with hair still gaining thickness.
Later Follow-Up
Photographed at a later clinic visit, with full coverage across the top.
Why we show the middle months: shedding at weeks 3–6 and patchy growth at month 3 are the two points where patients most often think a transplant has failed. Both are normal stages of the hair growth cycle. Full results typically mature at 10–12 months, and longer at the crown.
