Chirag had thinning across the front, top and crown, treated with about 5,000 grafts. His photos were not taken at monthly checkpoints, so this journey shows the stages that were recorded: before surgery from four angles, surgery day, the first wash, and the same angles again at a later follow-up visit.
The Journey, Month by Month
Before: Front
Thinning at the front, with the hair worn longer to cover it.
Before: Top
From above, the scalp shows through across the top.
Before: Crown
Thinning at the crown, clearest from behind.
Before: Side
From the side, the temples have receded.
Hairline Design
The new hairline is drawn by the doctor before any grafts are taken.
The Area to Treat
With the hair clipped short, the full area planned for the grafts is marked out.
First Wash
The grafts sit evenly across exactly the area marked on surgery day, once the crusts have cleared.
Later Follow-Up: Top
From above, the top is covered.
Later Follow-Up: Crown
The crown, seen from behind, is filled in.
Later Follow-Up: Side
From the side, the temples are rebuilt.
Later Follow-Up
A full, natural-looking front at a later visit.
Why we show the middle months: shedding at weeks 3–6 and patchy growth at month 3 are the two points where patients most often think a transplant has failed. Both are normal stages of the hair growth cycle. Full results typically mature at 10–12 months, and longer at the crown.
